I need a bigger hard drive to install the new os x on my mac. I've got a spare 40g in my old computer that I bought right before I put the thing out of commission. Can I install that in the mac? Are hard drives pc/mac compatable?

depends what the interface is. I think older machines used scsi, but my 400mhz g4 uses ide so your drive would proably work.

I think that's exactly what I have, a 400mhz g4. I want to get the new os x and from what I've gathered my g4 should be compatable.

I know dick about computers. I didn't think you could use a pc hard drive in a mac because just about everything else is not compatable.
