So my father is into shooting. I was looking into getting him a pair of hunting glomitts so he can shoot in the winter. I found some online, but they want way too much to ship them. So I call Dick's Sporting Goods. I waited on hold for 10 minutes to talk to the head of the hunting department (oh wow). I ask if they carry glomitts. He says no... I ask him what other kinds of shooting gloves they carry. He puts me on hold for another 5 minutes only to come back and ask me "Oh did you say glomitts or GROMITS?" Apparently they carry gLomitts (a pretty common item for hunting supply stores and also what I asked for) but not gRomitts (the fictional claymation dog from the Wallace & Gromitt features). I wonder if they guy actually put me on hold to go check and see if they had any fictional claymation cheese eating dogs in stock.

The same reason they would have tarps.
camping, boating, hunting, etc.

yeah well I would expect grommets at a hardware store, but now that I think about it I suppose it's not unlikely that they'd have grommets with the tarps. .

No one has made any jokes about carrying around the "Dick's" shopping card yet, this is surprising. Although on here I bet the only person who might shop there enough to even have the card is Andy@Zero.

no, but if I did hunt deer i would try to stalk it from above until I could ram a spear between its shoulder blades, then choke the life out of it

something about hiding behind a bush with a sniper rifle and a scope seems weak to me

You got me. Dick's is OK if you know what you want and you know where to find it in the store. Asking anyone there is useless -- I might get a more intelligent reply out of this desk or any other inanimate object. But it is better than Wal-Mart, and I will continue to shop there until they put that Cabelas in Hooksett.

ha, that was the first place I went to actually. No way I'd get it here in time for Christmas unless I paid retarded amounts for shipping. Good selection though.

A friend of mine hit a deer while he was driving drunk. He didn't know what to do so he got out of the car and tried to strangle it to death. A cop finally showed up, and was appropriately mortified.

Funniest thing I have read all day. I would have just ran it over a few more times.

I went to the one in Dedham (Brockton was the one I called). I walked in, found what I needed in 5 minutes. Not a bad store if you never have to talk to anyone, or rely on anyone for anything.

Exactly. I think they carry the Benelli auto-loader I want, but I'm going to direct my $1300 to someone else. The thought of dealing with some chucklehead at the Dick's gun counter makes my head hurt.
