I have to kinda agree with him on this one if you guys had a garage seperate from the house that would be a fine place to keep a torch, but keeping said torch and compressed gas tanks in your house isn't the smartest move, especially if something happened to a valve, there's that chance that you'll seriously get injured or worse if the tank ruptures.

the gasses can make you very ill (almost like carbon monoxide poisoning, although you most likely will smell acetylene) if they leak as well.

I have two small CO2 tanks at my house (for my paintball gun) and I keep those in a cool place, behind doors. I had a valve go on one of my older tanks a few years back, and that scared the shit out of me, blasting the valve piece across the room, breaking a window and freezing a spot on the floor (yes, compressed CO2 will freeze) and that was just a tiny 12OZ tank, imagine what a small acetylene tank will do (they're usually around the same weight as a gas grill tank, about 20lbs).

so, there's my two cents, I'd hate to see anything happen to either of you do to an accident.

That arguement is null and void though, seeing as how Aaron already has a meth lab in the basement.

I saw Robert Downey Jr. there one time. You know what he said to me?

"You know what Niccolai? I'll be damned if this isn't the best shabu I've ever had. I'll be GOD damned."

I think he meant it too.

must be a butane or propane torch, no?

I think it's bute.. er.. or propane.. I forget. it's still in the box from last year.
I don't want one of the most explosive, highest burning gases sitting around. Acetylene tanks are the things that you hear about blowing through concrete walls when the valve cracks.

agreed, those larger tanks can get dangerous if not stored properly.

story: in 2000, when i was into the fire thing, we responded to a transfer station on fire. since i was newest member, i got the least desirable job which was cooling down a pile of propane tanks. it was crazy how the building was fully engulfed, yet the smallest amount of water kept the tanks adjacent to the building from exploding.

I got like 3 oxy/acy rigs haha. I never worried about it. I weld quite a bit and I use the acy tanks to shield my welds. I use the oxy/acy rigs to cut or braze stuff. I personally am not worried about them one bit.

What are using it for, what are you using now, what electricity do you have, and what kind of budget do you have? I can point you in a decent direction.
