| _________________________________ [Feb 22,2007 3:18pm - sxealex ""] i might be horribly wrong but i was under the impression the dual core 32 bit chips were simlar to 64 bit chips.... instead of having a 64 bit chip that is split in half as most 64bit machines usually work its 2 seperate 32 bit set ups so it doesnt have to be split? so if ur having a problem it would just be some stupid system setting f-up that could be ignored... i used to think that 64 bit processors handled data it in 64 bit chunks but thats not what this guy who worked for motorola told me... so i dunno |

| ______________________________________ [Feb 22,2007 3:33pm - the_reverend ""] there is cholesterol in nuts.. and beans. duo cores do no split 64bit words. they run as 2 separate cpus with their own processes. my problem is the HAL that was installed. my HAL is set to a single cpu system "hal.dll" instead of the multiprocessor HAL "halmacpi.dll" with out the, windows has no clue that there is a second processor to run things on. it shows hardware for the 2 CPUs but only uses one of them. the system ram isn't getting the right info to the task manager from the HAL so the RAM speed isn't displaying right. I tried everything I could, but it looks like an installation issue. they are going to fix it for tomorrow. the only way to fix it is to reinstall or repair with the right HAL. |
