(I got to watch my mother die of cancer, so I have a personal vendetta...) BUT...I am also an advocate for personal freedom and think people have the right to do whatever they want too as long as it doesn't effect others. That being said...the Smoking ban is about Fire safety issues not health. We came perilously close recently because of the fucking ignorance of the 230 oak space kids bringing the City and Fire dept of PVD to our front door and now we are under scrutiny from the authorities. To make sure that we provide a SAFE place where kids can enjoy underground music thats cheap,secure and free of bullshit bouncers and macho shitheads...we need to adhere to the safety first. We love this city, we love our friends and we love the scene here...the people who are the backbone of Redrum have been doing shows for decades now in PVD and they are caring and professional guys.We want to make sure everyone has a great time and can come back to do it again. We want to supply an alternative to the clubs and support local and underground bands on tour in New England.We are working hard with the landlord to see that this happens. All one needs to do is watch that Station video posted on RTTP to understand the implications and see where we are coming from... |

I know it doesn't look too good having a shitload of people hanging outside smoking. Nonetheless, I agree with the NO SMOKING decision. I am a smoker and I never liked how that entire hallway filled up with smoke. As for second hand smoke having a serious effect on others I have yet to see concrete evidence. With that said, I understood that it just plain stinks and have always respected people enough to take a walk with it. |
