So this week a company called American Income Life Insurance contacted me asking if I'd like to come in for an interview. They found my resume through monster.com so I said "OK". They said that the headquarters is in Mansfield, MA and that the interview needs to be conducted there. Now Mansfield, MA is a little over an hour away for me if I'd doing the speed limit. Anyway after driving 90mph to get there on time I walk in, they give me a 5 minute interview telling me about their company and finding out more about me. Basically the job is all "lead and commission based". I would need to find some people who would be interested in buying health or life insurance, sell them either or, and get some leads from them. The job would consist of traveling with all the gas money coming right out of my pocket. I've done this sales shit before working for Cutco Knives so I knew it was just some scam. Fucking ridiculous though. If anyone here is contacted by American Income don't give them the time or day. Unless lead based sales and working off commission is your thing but to me it's bullshit.

I remember Cutco. By about the 2nd or 3rd meeting, where I found out you needed to pay them money, I walked out. This sounds like another "pyramid" scam. If you go back, bring an automatic weapon.

Whenever companies call you out of the blue like that it's usually BS. I used to have job recruiters calling me all the time telling me I was perfect for some they had that was basically telemarketing, sometimes they call it an "account executive" which is a legit job with some companies, but usually it just entails you sitting at a desk and cold calling people all day long with no room for advancement. If you ask them questions over the phone they never have the correct information on you, or they'll have something that's like 2 years out of date. It's retarded.

yea
i got contacted by some company to do the same shit pretty uch out in CT. It would have been almost an hour commute every day one way and it was commission based. It was a financial firm and i'd basically have to get clients to gt financial advice from this firm. Would have had to spend a fortune on suits and gas and it was commission with a 25K a year salary but i'm sure there would have been quotas to keep the job ya know. 25 K sounded good until i realized i'd be paying about 75 bucks a week on gas, maybe more. I never called them back.

it could work if you were a rabid salesman with charisma falling out of your ass, but its not practical. i interviewed at a similar style place, you had to walk around a town and try to sell people useless crap.
