If it took this long to piece another book together how good can it be? But The Silmarilian was good in my opinion. I havn't read it for 5 years or something, but I remember it being really good except for a few chapters in the middle that for some reason couldn't hold my interest. I really should read it again though. |

Christopher Tolkien's writing style is definitely different and distinct from his dads but they both show this really strong appreciation for trying to tell epic tales in the new-old mythology J.R.R. was trying to create. The History of Middle Earth and Unfinished Tales of Middle Earth and Numenor are pretty good, unfortunately some of it got a bit dry because it was just the bare bones of notes that Tolkien had written and Christopher trying his damnest to interpret it but not being really exact. |
