$1.28 to $1.33 per listener per hour retroactive to Jan 1 2006.
say you had 1000 listeners per week for a 3 hr show and it's retroactive for 70 weeks, that's $270,000.

I read the bill and it's $.33 per hour per listener or 7.5% of the revenue generated by the digital transmittion.
say you had 1000 listeners per week for a 3 hr show and it's retroactive for 70 weeks, that's $69,300 and $990 per show.

this is HORSESHIT!

I usually tune in from time to time, and if I don't tune in, I nab the podcast.

xanonymousx has a valid question, would this effect the podcast?

after reading the article it seems that this is to get money out of companies like AOL and such because they are not paying the musicians to be on the internet radio..... but it will affect everyone involved in the community.

I can't understand why terrestrial radio only has to pay royalities for composition but Internet radio has to pay an additional performance fee. Does it make sense to anyone??

Currently, RIAA has penned 413 pre-litigation settlements letters to
22 universities. UNH has received 17; 16 are aimed at students and one,
at an employee. As of March, of the lawsuits RIAA has pending, 400 are

Its fucked how a lot of these so called "Indie Labels" will sell their souls to get a few benefits by signing there lives over to a corporate tyrant like the RIAA.

Well, heres to the dawn of the Clear Channel era! :duffbeer:

Uhhh No.
Seriously though, the HC/Metal scene will always evolve to quickly for the corporates to catch on, so this is just a small hurdle. Its just way to resourceful of a scene and its mainly dominated by folks who are not predominately motivated by money so there will always be other alternative medias.

Well, I'm literally sick and tired right now so to an early grave I go.....Though I'll probably have some 1984'ish dreams about this RIAA bullshit Rev!
I'm sure you'll find some other way to keep yourself on the autonomous side of things.
