A couple funny episodes peppered throughout the years still constitues as failure in my eyes. However I'm convinced its not necessarily just poor writing that's responsible for the lackluster output. The Simpsons from the start have been a reflection on family life and culture in America ... poking fun at both and thus making relatable comedy. The problem in my opinion is that our newest generation of viewers is so one-dimensional that they relate to a dumbed down, lifeless, and dated excuse for comedy. This is also why the show remains just as popular, if not more so than before. |

In my opinion there are more than a few funny episodes here and there; most are at least pretty good. My analogy for the recent years of the Simpsons is that it's like a really good friend whom you love, but they got into a bad accident and suffered slight brain damage that makes them slighly dumb/weird. You still hang out with your friend because you love them, but it's just not the same. |
