What do you guys think about this whole "every MA resident is required to have health insurance" deal?

I think it's bullshit. I'm in the process of switching jobs so my insurance with my current job will be ending Friday. With this new bill every MA resident is required to have health insurance and if you don't it starts to get taken out of your taxes. It's fucking ridiculous. I could've stayed on my current employer's insurance in what is called The Cobra Plan which allows me to have health insurance but I'll need to pay the full price of it which is nearly $400.00 a month so I turned that down. I couldn't get insurance from my school because this bill/law whatever you want to call it had a section about part time students not being allowed to get health insurance through their colleges, you need to be full time. So now I have the task of finding a new insurance provider to cover my ass because I can't go without it.

Have you guys heard about this yet? It's wicked fucking ridiculous.

The Cobra Plan sucks.
I think it's awesome, it will encourage lazy people to get a job or go to school. Part time students have never been allowed to get insurance, it's been that way since I've been in college through the past 5 years.
I just think it's funny how people hate shit that is actually there to help them - unions, health insurance etc.
Watch, all these douche bags with no insurance will hate paying for it yet they were too lazy to pay for it anyway, they should just kill themselves if they hate living that much.

Nationalized health care (or in this case State-wide health care) = shitty health care supplied by organizations who are not rewarded by innovation and advancements in technology/medical procedures. They just remain stagnant supplying the same old shitty shit because there is no incentive to be innovative.

I think it sucks. I can get insurance through school...which covers absolutely nothing for 850 dollars up front every fucking fall (and that's just me not the rest of my family), which after I get assraped in college fees isn't fucking possible. We can't afford it, and according to Masshealth...Jon and I are rich. We can barely deal with rent, gas, bills, and life...now we gotta pay an extra 2-300 dollars a month because Massachusetts spends all its free care pool cash on fucking illegal immigrants? Gay.

Not having health care has NOTHING to do with laziness, it has to do with it being outrageously expensive. This isn't a solution, it's just another way to stuff money in the insurance company's pockets and fuck people over.

This is the way America's going so that someone will pay for the costs of illegal immigrant health care.

Cobra just gives you whatever insurance you had at your last job. So calling it "shitty" is kinda stupid. It's more just as shitty as whatever insurance you had while employed.

Like steveotb, mine Cobra payment is like $400 a month which has sucked. But now with this "everybody must have insurance" thingy, it's going to be $100. Hard to complain about it.

kinda gay i guess... i had no idea about it til now... and now that i have no job and mass health denied me before... i have to try it again i guess... fuck this state and fuck illegals. i really dont get why cant just kick them out... is it really THAT hard? i mean... shit... roll out the paddy wagon and pay someone to ship them back. i mean... they want us to pay for their health care... they want to give them legit licenses... they want to give them FREE COLLEGE... i mean... i probably stand a better chance in this country/state if i was painted brown and said "okay, meng" all the time.

I think they should force EMPLOYERS to offer health insurance at a reasonable cost to their employees and penalize companies that do not offer health insurance to the employees. The reason why a lot of people don't have health insurance is because they can't afford it, and their employer does not offer it. The government shouldn't be punishing those people by requiring them to pay a higher tax. They should be cracking down on all of the companies that screw over their employees by not offering them adequate benefits.

If you apply for Commonwealth care you can get reduced rate plans for all the major carriers (Blue Cross, Fallon, etc)

"Take a hint folks. Massachusetts does not want you living here." is the hint the cheaper insurance rates? I really don't get it. Everyone across the board gets insurance now. Is $100 a month really going to break the bank?

$100 is a small price to pay, especially if god forbid something happens to you and you avoid hundred of thousands in medical bills that'll fuck you for the rest of your life.

- also, if you dont have health insurance but you get sick/injured and end up going to the hospital... the rest of us who do have ins get the pleasure of paying for it with increased rates. :middlefinger:

the system is kind of beneficial despite how it looks. you have to figure in the thousands of douchebags that go to the ER for every ache and pain, and waste everyones time and money. the aim is to seriously cut down on that. i do agree that employers should be required to offer benefits to employees too. its an issue that had to be tackled, and this is only the preliminary run. hopefully the plan will be reviewed after its been in place for a while and improved. but that is serious wishful thinking.

I work in MA and they've still found a way to screw me out of healthcare, so yeah, I can't even afford to live in that state, you've gotta be fucking insane to pay $900 for a 1br apartment, fuck that.

[Jun 20,2007 12:52pm - HailAtWork  ""]
ummm...why are employers paying for healthcare? Aren't there billions of dollars being wasted on a war right now that could be providing healthcare for every single person in this country at a lower cost than the current system? Oh wait, no capitalist pigs could gouge you if we had a real healthcare system.

I pay $800.00 for a 4 bedroom town house in MA

Muawhahaha

I love having grand parents as land lords.

Split up by 4 people it's only $200.00 per person a month...pretty sweet deal I say.

I love driving down Paul Revere Rd. in my crappy old Toyota. The insanely rich people there always give the most disgusted looks.

if you join the Knights of Columbus you can get ridiculously cheap health insurance... all you have to do is pretend to be a Christian. this plan also comes with $1 drafts at the bar.
