Okay, here's the deal SEXCREMENT's set tonight is in jeopardy. Evan was hospitalized today for a blood clot in his leg and has to stay over night. This is a major bummer for us and we're terribly sorry that we have to let everyone down. On the over hand, I know how to play about 9 songs-we'll be meeting up in an hour to jam on them and feel them out. Would people stick around if we did a 4 or 5 song set sans bass? Like I said, we were really really looking forward to this show, we're a hard band for dead and don't like giving up. We could make the best of what we have which will admittedly not be nearly the same as our normal 4 piece lineup-but we just want to have a good time. What do you guys think? It's really shitty that we can't play with Evan, we don't want him or anybody to think we're leaving him out to dry, but at the same time we don't want to disappoint you fuckers. Fair warning.

Awesome show, I missed dysentry thanks to both the red and green lines being terrible. Sexcrement was SO good. I'm so glad O'Brien's is open again, it was great to see it so packed on a Thursday.

I have one complaint about the renovations. No, not the poles (since I can use them to hide behind). It's the 2 wires that drive the PA on the ceiling. They should be attached the pole near the bathroom and not hanging down a foot away from the pole, blocking a lot of my shots.
Dysentery: first time back at o'briens and first time seeing this band in a longish time. Will assured me before their set that he wasn't going hop on a plane to florida before they go on stage. They played more songs than I think they ever have live and once I moved to the front of the room, the sound was excellent. It's always the best seeing spaldino up on a stage even though he's not as massive as he used to be. Before they left, I forgot to get a copy of the split. I'm sure they will get me one since I get requests for it like every week. My friend from LA said they were the best band of the night.

proteus: musically, this is the most diverse band on the bill. They mix doomy parts, meshuggah-ish riffs and some slam metal breakdowns. They didn't play any of the longer tracks that IMHO are their best work, but at a show like this some times leave the audience (and the singer) just standing there. Paul only flicked the end of his strings like once. Matt's vocals have chanced a bit and there almost more hardcore than meshuggah/gurgling. I was looking forward to their set on a real stage more than anything.
it was also cool that there was no ninja on the stage this time.

Porphyria: sorry for all the people that went there looking for the new bass. Sean's sitar is sitting back at home and didn't make it to this show. He did however thrill the house with a couple primus rips in between songs. The crowd looked like the timmy's wedding. Lot's of familiar faces. The new song was pulled off from what I could tell, flawlessly. These guys are stupid for the simple fact that the refuse to be on a record label and touring. In the end, anyone looking for the stairway to heaven riff at the end was disappointed since they didn't play it. Er.. Well, that is to say, they didn't play it during their set. RA tried to pull of a smigend of it at the end of the set, but it failed. FAILED.

intestinal strangulation: never seen nor heard of them. Good stuff though. The dual vocalswas cool. The pulled it off like carcassy/impaled stuff with the low and mid growls. Funny how the front of the crowd started out as all porphyria and then became all pillory. The dying fetus cover was cool. not enough people do that anymore. DF became the black sheep after being the sweetheart of the scene.

this show was fucking sick! like a redux of the BBQ at jay's, good times
first time back at OBs, lookin good and sounding pretty killer. glad to witness a bit of beer spillage and can-on-floor action still, some things will thankfully never change completely.
IS... sick fucking drummer, reminded me a bit of HATE. rest of the bands killed, cheers to MFR for playing, didn't expect that!

crazy show. It was cool to see it sold out so early, hopefully that regulation they need will kick in soon so more people can watch. I threw up wild before we played, it was rad. Hopefully we'll be able to get another date there for August so we can have a real proper CD release gig. Thanks to all who came out. Much love to MFR for being the man.
