had no clue that arp was the only original member now.

Psyopus has announced that their brief search for a new bass player has come to an end. Here's a statement from the band:

"We here at the Psyopus camp are happy to announce that we have found our new bass player in the form of a Michael Horn. He is a 24 year-old freak of nature from just outside of the Washington, DC area. He graduated from The Shenandoah Conservatory with a degree in Arts Management with a minor in jazz bass along side two years of classical bass training at the instituation.

He will now be being institutionalized into the Psyopus school of music along side the realitively new talent in the form of University of Buffalo's Percussion major, Buffalo, NY's own Jason Bauers, and the acid fucked persona of The Jefferson Plane Crash's vocalist, Fredericksburg, VA's own Harrison Christie.

The promisingly revamped Psyopus line-up will be showcased on the road coming this November. Psyopus has four dates in the North East United States area supporting Japan's own noise rockers Melt Banana. Dates have yet to be offically announced."

no, that fred would leave. Fred was the bassist that made me realize that bassists could play awesome stuff. before that I never paid attention to them at all.

Fred is a cool shit. I had no clue the vocalist was gone too, but that's awesome that Harrison is in the band. In my opinion he's a far better vocalist than Adam. Plus he's 9 feet tall and fucking hilarious.

True. I saw them in Manchester in July I think and he kept making me laugh. I honestly didn't even know there were different members except for Arp because it was the first time I ever saw them.

I don't believe this for a second. Of all the bands you've seen? C'mon!

All the dudes that are in/were in psyopus are awesome dudes. The new line up will never (in my mind) match the original:

cause that is just how I first saw them. These guys all stuck it out for a lot longer than most people would have due to personality conflicts. Listen to the music and you will understand that a mind which thinks up the things that are on there discs might have an issue with inter-personal communication. I know talked to all of them and know that things got a little bad. Some of them got better offers and they took them. Others just bowed out. I've seen ever incarnation of psyopus (except the new bassist) and they are all (every single one of them) phenomenal musicians. Yes to everyone, I never gave a flying fig newton about bassplayers until I watched freddy kill.

One thing we can be certain, is that the members that arpman will surround himself with will be top notch or they are out. I'm just not so certain to what level of heart they will have when they play as oppose to just being fill in musicians. When I saw them last at the american legion, the new drummer was a machine, but he just didn't yet have the heart for that music. he didn't write any of that music and looked like her was just playing it to play it and get it right. Watching chris with a guitar in his hands is the definition of heart. He just doesn't stop playing. Even when he's on stage playing mind-meltingly technical parts, you can watch him playing other things while playing the stuff that he's practice (and are on the CD). At the cherry street show, I watch as he played songs from Ideas which blow kids minds and while playing that, would use whatever free fingers to effortlessly play other things while playing everything else. He is a rare breed. It's something I strive for when I have a camera in my hand.

I'm going to be front row at all psyopus shows I can be at blinding them, but I'm sure it will be different.
