That's the media's spin. The reality is, he was asking Kerry questions and grandstanding a bit. If you watch the other videos, Kerry actually says "That's O.K., let me answer his questions" as they start pulling him away from the mic. The only thing this kid did wrong was to go over his alloted time on the mic, and to be a little loud. Neither is reason for the cops to use force. 6 cops can't just pick the kid up and carry him? You need a taser?

These cops went overboard, and deserve to lose their jobs. What's next? They gonna use tasers on loud drunks on disturbing the peace calls? They going to taser outspoken teens "I know my rights!" on traffic stops?

If you know me, you're well aware that I support a cops right to use force. However, using a weapon capable of shutting down a person's heart when you've already got a 6:1 advantage over a kid is excessive, even in my view.

carina was probably listening to 96.9 on the way to work. Michael Graham was fake-crying cause the students marched for the trouble maker and not for the cops.

Again, though, I must make the same damned point I've made so many other times on this board:

If a cop tells you to do something, fucking DO IT. Doesn't matter if they're wrong, doesn't matter if you "know your rights", none of it matters. Once a cop decides to arrest you the decision is made. A cop will never say "oh, okay, I changed my mind... you are free to go"

This kid would NOT have gotten tazered if he'd shut the fuck up and let them cuff him. It also would make it a lot easier to show how poorly these cops acted by arresting him in the first place, since they now are able to go into court and say the kid was belligerent and resisted arrest. Otherwise, these douchebags would probably already be out of a job.

Suspended WITH pay. Unfortunately, as I said, by resisting the kid gave the cops a lot more justification in how they acted.

He was tazered for resisting arrest. Something that should be considered unnecessary considering there were already 4-5 cops on him. It was a display of power, not a needed use of force to detain a suspect. If 4 cops can't kneel on one teenager and put him in cuffs with ease, then they shouldn't be working as cops.

What's ironic is that the (needlessly) escalated response was probably only because the whole thing was televised and high-profile, and they were super anxious to keep up appearances. That sure worked out.

so what if he resisted and made a scene out of it. People who argue that was why he got tazed are ignorant. If I were ever being wrongfully apprehended by police officers i'd make a scene too. Hell man, so what if they taze me. I'm not goin out like a bitch. And its more leverage in the court room when I sue their white asses.

there is a difference between restraining someone without hurting them and breaking their legs, I dunno if youve ever had to restrain someone who was fighting back, but doing it without hurting them or getting hurt is harder than you seem to think, particularly when you have a gun and the kid has absolutely no intention of going quietly, if the kid had gotten an arm broken and the cops got kicked in the balls and there was blood and hair everywhere this would have been a much bigger spectacle on a national scale, not to mention in that room, he was tazed to stop him from struggling and getting hurt or hurting someone else, regardless of how many cops there were, thats what tazers are for
if thats not what tazers are for, feel free to clue me in

I used to be a bouncer at the Cambridgeport; ejecting somebody from a room when that's what you've been trained to do (whether they've decided they want to be there or not) isn't rocket science. I could've tossed that kid without anybody getting hurt (let alone tased) all by my lonesome; there's no way five cops should've had any trouble.

You are a fucking pussy.

If the cops did that shit to me I would have resisted in the same way, and if they tasered me, I'd hope it would piss other people off too. Don't let the system win when you know it's wrong. If you excuse force like this once, then a society where it's okay to beat the living fuck out of people for exercising their rights in a way certain individuals don't like becomes the norm.

Interesting, but pretty false. A single cop might be justified if restraining a resisting kid, but 4-5 cops? It's not as hard as you make it out to be, especially since they are trained. Again, it's not fucking hard. Kneel on him, roll him, each cop secures an arm and leg. As for you're whining about breaking his arms, waaah. A front cuff and leg shackle would avoid that, and would be a much more intelligent second choice than a 15000 volt taser that could potentially kill someone with a heart problem.

You may not know shit about restraint techniques, and that's understandable. But I WOULD expect that cops, prison guards, and Security officers should be trained and know what they're doing.

Not sure how doing the smart thing makes me a pussy, retard. Suck my dick.

Taking on 4 cops trying to do what they're told? Yeah, that makes you the man retard. The cops fucked up. The kid was in the right. Without resistance, he would easily have been taken in and released, and most likely been cleared of all charges. Meanwhile, you would be the macho dipshit that gets his fucking nose busted, takes a taser, and goes through court for a couple years trying to get your charges cleared. Good way to fight the system.

UNH cops aren't. I think it's funny when a town has both University cops AND a town police. there is a law stating that you can only have one autonomous police department per-town.

It's part of the law system in this country that you're supposed to be read your rights and told why you're being arrested. None of that happened in the video. The guys just dragged the kid away from the podium and tasered him for no reason at all. The fact that he got charged with anything is bullshit. He wasn't armed, he didn't pose a threat to anybody, he got cuffed because someone decided they didn't like what he was saying. That's bullshit.

It is bullshit. Something I myself have said several times in this big long thread you obviously didn't read. Meanwhile, he would not have gotten tasered in the first place if he just did what he was told and stopped resisting. Then, you argue laws and rights where you're supposed to: in court. The kid's gonna win, either way, but now he resisted and gave cops justification, as well as getting a nice electrical shock in the process.

If you read the whole thread instead of jumping in halfway through to call me a pussy, you'd see I've already said the cops had no right to arrest the kid, or tazer him.
