THE ACACIA STRAIN adds second guitar player, gets ready for tour
Western Massachusetts' purveyors of all things heavy, THE ACACIA STRAIN,
have confirmed the addition of Jonathan Dennison (Unholy, Another Victim,
Path of Resistance, Santa Sangre). The band will depart for a headlining
tour later this fall with support coming from Despised Icon, Full Blown
Chaos and The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza.

"I couldn't be happier with our decision," comments THE ACACIA STRAIN
frontman Vincent Bennett. "In my eyes, J.D. is the ideal choice. Everyone is
really excited to have him on board and we can't wait to see what he has to
offer this band. We're wicked excited for this tour. I've wanted to tour
with all of these bands forever, and we finally are. We are going to be
playing some songs that we haven't played in forever or haven't been able to
play due to the lack of a second guitar and will be showcasing a new song or
two. Sorry to our friends in the Great White North though, we are seriously
trying to stay away from those dangerous snow-covered roadways. I promise we
will make it up to you when the warmer weather hits. See everyone in
November and December!"

THE ACACIA STRAIN continues to support the band's latest effort, 'The Fall
of Ideals,' which saw a summer 2006 release through Prosthetic Records. The
album spawned the video "Angry Mob Justice" which can be seen online here
(http://youtube.com/watch?v=5fNXspL1hGs).

Yeah, I guess so. How about we break down their sound like this:

Unearth ripoff
Unearth ripoff
Shadows Fall ripoff
Earth Crisis ripoff
Any given metalcore band on MTV2 ripoff
Unearth Ripoff
Chug Chug, end of song

pause, repeat, sign to some shit record label, whine about how you hate hardcore kids and then pander to them, and you've got yourself an Acacia Strain full lenght.

I'd say you could just replace "Unearth" with "Blood Has Been Shed" each time and you've got it pegged.

Im not really a fan of the acacia strain. But dude they definatley dont rip off unearth, earth crisis, or fucking shadows fall. Plus any metalcore band on mtv2 came out after the acacia strain, They've been around for awhile. Why dont you get your shit straight first. Bhbs rip off is a bit more like it. Especially the old bhbs.

Here's me getting my shit straight. Take notes.

I'm aware of exactly how long the Acacia Strain has been around. I remember seeing them when they were first starting out. I remember seeing them at the Taunton American Legion and people coming up to me saying "How bad does this band want to be Unearth?" I remember watching them play at the Salem Elks, and turning to a friend of mine as we both asked "Isn't that an Unearth riff?" more than once. I remember sitting through their sets time, and time again picking out riff after riff that other bands wrote way before them. Hey, I don't blame you for getting all uppity about me pointing this out. I mean for you to have realized this you would have had to have been around for (Oh NOes!1!!!!1!) more than 2 years.

As far as MTV 2 metalcore bands that came out after the Acacia Strain... you mean like Killswitch Engage, Unearth, A Life Once Lost, Dillenger Escape Plan? I'd like to know what universe you're living in where the Acacia Strain pre-dates these bands.

And every Western Mass metal/hardcore mix band has probably ripped off a Shadows Fall riff at some point. Shadows Fall/Perpetual Doom all that stuff was, in a lot of ways, the start of that western mass sound (as is my understanding at least). I guess if you haven't heard anything from Shadows Fall that wasn't on an Ozzfest sampler you might not know that.

I'm gonna go schedule "Get Shit Straight" into my Outlook calendar now. Thanks.

Listen to compare them to shadows fall, unearth or any of those bands is to give them alot more credit first off.

All the bands listed are pretty metal.(besides earth crisis)and
have more technical style riffs and drumming. Where the acacia strain has poor guitar skills and ok drumming.

I mean shit im on your side their not great, but ive been seeing them for years and i just dont see any of those listed about being ripped off. Those bands are all really manufactured metalcore, they have that melodic kse shit in there.
Acacia strain is mostly a bunch of breakdowns or a bulid up to a breakdown. Their not really that creative.

to sum up what Mike was saying, if you saw them a few years ago, they had a completely different sound.
and three guitarist.
and a funny looking girl bass player.

actually yeah, before they decided to be a less complicated Blood Has Been Shed that does describe the acacia strain of that time well.

Sometimes I forget that they jumped the various metalcore trends album to album.
