I'm kinda the same way as Lamp; I've been playing guitar for about 6 years, and playing drums for about a year and I don't consider myself a musician either. Not because I think people who call themselves musicians are snotty but mainly because I'm not really that great on either instrument, I know close to nothing about writing/reading music, and I've never really played in a band besides a few unsuccessful jam sessions with people who only wanted to play technical metalcore garbage. So I don't look down on people who call themselves musicians, I just know I'm not good enough to be called one myself. |

That being said when I'm writing I like to think that my knowledge of theory doesn't dictate the way I play or write so much as it becomes an internal part of the conscious. There is a theoretical side to noise and punk and all that stuff too. Theory is actually a very dynamic thing. Not so rigid as perceived...etcetcetc |
