I don't understand why Rush is on there while KC is not. In the Court of the Crimson King is to me, one of the first metal albums. |
| ___________________________________ [Dec 18,2007 4:26pm - dreadkill ""] i like your list, especially putting amon duul II and ELP in there. i personally don't consider rush, zeppelin, or king crimson metal, but i won't deny their influence on it. when i was a kid aerosmith was my favorite band, but like sinistas said, after draw the line, they fell off the map. sure, there were some good songs after it, but never any solid albums. if aerosmith broke up after draw the line, they'd have a much better reputation and much less money in their bank accounts. what would have happened to zeppelin's reputation if bonham hadn't died and they continued on? if their music declined, it probably wouldn't fall as hard as aerosmith's did, but who knows. i think part of the legend with zeppelin and the beatles is the fact that they had pretty short careers. it's hard to sustain greatness over a long period of time, that's why i consider rush to be the best band ever, and to a lesser extent, motorhead. motorhead has sustained greatness over a long period of time, but done it with a tried and true approach that hasn't changed, kind of like ac/dc, and the songwriting remains strong more than 30 years after they started. |
