lib·er·al (l--b'?r-?l, l--b'r?l) pronunciation
adj.

1.
1. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.
2. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
3. Of, relating to, or characteristic of liberalism.

So where's this "liberal media" I keep hearing republicans bitching about? I certainly can't find it on TV or in any major newspapers. Everything I see on the cable news channels, and local news is definitely limited by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas. It isn't free from bigotry. The news we have the most exposure and access to does not favor proposals for reform, (they've made this very obvious by showing extreme favor to certain presidential candidates while doing everything possible to minimize and exclude those who would actually challenge current U.S. policy, refusing to cover huge major stories concerning U.S. policy, etc.) is NOT open to new ideas for progress, and is NOT tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others...or broad-minded. The news I see is empty, devoid of any useful information, shallow, moronic, untruthful, extremely slighted, and an insult to my intelligence. So where is this "liberal media"? It's hiding in print and on the internet, and I hardly think media outlets like The Nation, Mother Jones, etc. constitute a huge "liberal media" for the neo-cons to be bitching about. If we did have a truly liberal media, we'd be more informed and involved in the laws and policies that control our lives, we'd be able to hold public officials accountable, we'd be educated about what our government is doing in our name, with our money. Perhaps we'd know that there are more than 2 political parties, and more than 3-4 candidates who have better ideas than the ones with all the money. We'd be more aware that there's a whole planet outside of this country and that other people think differently and have different customs, and that our government is killing them and taking their resources in our name, with our money. Maybe we'd stop being so afraid, maybe we'd see that war, right in our living rooms, uncensored, unable to escape the reality of it...and maybe we'd stop it.

When they say liberal media, they really mean leftist, which is actually pretty non-liberal

Those dogmas you speak of are liberal dogmas. Look harder. It's liberal because it panders to weak people, except Fox network, which panders to tools.
