It's a base broth of slower black metal (Burzum, Drudkh, Primordial), with some blast-y and some thrash-y parts, and a big heaping helping of viking metal (Enslaved especially) and doomy stuff (Agalloch?). Ensiferum is a big reference point for me, at least on the parts I'm writing - there'll probably be some straight-up folky parts, and I sing (as opposed to screaming) on some parts. Seth and I tend to lean towards the thrash, and that finds its way in as well. Lots of acoustic stuff, too - we're gonna have someone playing live acoustic and keys. We're getting pretty progressive with the whole thing - pretty much anything we can all agree on goes in the pot. All in all, it's pretty tough for me to pin down - I'm sure other people will be able to hear it and peg it right off ("They're an [X] clone."). We're probably not as original as I think we are. *snort* |
