Madukes, My son is also severely autistic, and I have said to people that I would not have it any other way for the great personality he has. He is 10 years old now and made alot of progress. He was really bad for awhile, but with alot of work from me and his teachers is doing much better, yet still difficult as hell. But I would NEVER want to change his personality he has developed into a sweetheart with sympathy for others, and now has an awesome sense of humor that can only come from his disability. You and I know how hard it is but I would not trade it for anything. he is incapable of lying, and alway truthful, in good and bad ways, haha. |

I don't really think about it anymore. I don't like telling other people that I was diagnosed with something because I really just don't think it matters. At this point in my life I've had other people hear that I was diagnosed with AS and not believe it. Back in my childhood I had it really bad and my mom kept taking me to doctors who kept telling her "No no, he's fine" because they were only diagnosing full blown autism at that point in time. In any case, while I still generally don't like talking to people too much, I guess I am normal by now. For the most part anyway. |
