_________________________________________ [Feb 6,2008 12:40pm - DreamingInExile ""] the_reverend said:...the DB might be fucked. of course it is, it's a Microshit product... everything that they release is borke one way or another... look at vista, it's a viral abomination that they refer to as an operating system. I ran vista for 3 days (2 of which it was installed and never touched), then I upgraded to XP, since at least XP has drivers for all my audio hardware, and it plays nice with all my other hardware. I've never had any good fortune with MsSQL in the past. It always seemed to have a vendetta against me. |
______________________________________ [Feb 6,2008 12:50pm - the_reverend ""] I dnt get vista yet. I also have no machines with it on it that I use. I also didn't like win95 when I first used it either and swore to stick to my win 3.11 |
______________________________________ [Feb 6,2008 12:51pm - the_reverend ""] I have troubles with transactional dbs. for the mot part. like mysql running innodb is the same way. |
________________________________________ [Feb 6,2008 1:05pm - DreamingInExile ""] I'm not the greatest with db work, since I'm more of a front-end/UI designer then a hardcore programmer/developer. I know some PHP, MySQL, Apache and Linux stuff to set up and maintain my remedial web apps, but I have more fin with the UI aspect of things then the hard-coding of web apps. I'm reading more into the Ruby/AWS libraries for transactional web apps, but it's probably not going to go further then reading into it and toying around with it a bit. |
_____________________________________ [Feb 6,2008 1:17pm - the_reverend ""] it's not worth it. too much overhead. good for people who are in the banking industry, etc... not good for me. |
