sounds like you have an ID-10 T error. This error occurs between the chair and the keyboard.

hmm so it won't shut off or restart...

but when it's on can you run programs normally?

you just can't go online?.. i have a wireless linksys too...when it won't connect i unplug it and then plug it back in and then try connecting again..usually it's ok

i just read that to aaron..he's not sure either..

w t f ?

do you have adaware? try running that just to see...

go to www.download.com

search for adaware...and then run it... if you have spyware it will detect it...sometimes spyware does crap...nothing to lose trying, that is if you haven't already

i have spent 4hrs trying to fix it i'm gonna unplug it and call it a nite and see if it works tommrow

I would say that something is probably running that you can't see.
run spybot and adaware....
I would also plug into the linksys (router I'm assuming) and open a command prompt and type "ipconfig"
and see if you are getting an ip from the router.

how do i run spybot and adaware?

we did this "plug into the linksys (router I'm assuming) and open a command prompt and type "ipconfig"
and see if you are getting an ip from the router." the signal ends at the lynksys it possibly could be a bad cable i'm gonna switch the cables tommrow morning and if it works usung both cables dirct then it's gotta be the linksys

so the only issue (not including the linksys) is that you can't turn it off...

what happens when you go to shut down?

does it just hang?
you should try pressing "ctrl alt delete" and go into the task manager...and see what is not responding
 ____________________________________
[Jan 19,2004 10:34am - subjugate ""]
right

it does nuthing it's not frozen or thinking it just sits and won't shut off

i did that c.a.d. there was nuthing

ok so what was the issue?

succubus said:ok so what was the issue?

In short, I think he had a virus that screwed up norton. With all those misc NAV services running he couldn't shut down the computer or uninstall. Also his ISP didn't like the MAC address on his router or something. So I just had it clone the address of his PC, which always worked fine in the past without the router. Somehow it all magically worked.
