ATTN Mark Fucking Richards, Niccolai, or anyone else on the south shore[views:1824][posts:11]______________________________________ [Feb 23,2008 2:32pm - ArrowHeadNLI ""] I'm looking for a good place to get my Les Paul set up. I tried it myself for the first time, and I think I did more harm than good. I know there's the guitar doctor in Whitman, but I know little about him. Any recommendations? |

Is it set neck or bolt on? If it's bolt on and needs a shim to get the proper neck angle, then it can get a little pricey. Gibson bolt-ons never have properly angled neck pockets. |

__________________________________ [Feb 23,2008 8:01pm - Niccolai ""] not to mention, I don't see the guitar being left there for 5 months for a setup |

Once I almost didn't get to the van rental place on time because I waited almost an hour for them to do intonation on a bass. I had dropped it off with them over a week in advance. |

___________________________________ [Feb 24,2008 11:43am - Niccolai ""] a setup is a setup. it's done by the books and string heights/intonation are exact measurements, not something that's going to be drastically different everywhere you go for a setup. That being said, go to whoevers going to get it done faster with the best turnaround time. I suggested guitar doctor because they are actual luthiers. Music unlimited/ssmusic etc don't have any actual luthiers working there and in the event that you need a shim, or your frets need to be crowned, a place like music unlimited won't know how or have the proper tools to do it. |
