Who's dumber: the Jets, or Warren Sapp?

Who's dumber...

- The Jets for complaining about all the off season spending? ESPN reported today that a lot of Jets players are upset, and griping to the media that the organization is spending so much money on new acquisitions instead of their established players. I guess they'd be happier throwing more money at the same guys who produced a stellar 4-12 season than trying to make the team better. I gotta hand it to the Jets though, most teams wait until mid-season to fall apart emotionally. They seem to be hell bent on getting it out of the way ASAP.

- Warren Sapp for announcing retirement from his 13 year, 7 time pro-bowl career a couple hours after BRETT FARVE announced his. The index page to the ESPN NFL page says it all.

I dont know man, the jets made some pretty good moves, fanaca is a sick o lineman and they needed it badly. offensive linemen will make everyone better. underrated defense and solid special teams, they will be a much better team next year (they need to get rid of fucking fag pennington though to even think about contending in our division) he cannot stretch the field, and defenses take good advantage of that, especially ours

warrem sapp looks dumb because he could've made his announcement on a different day and gotten the attention he wanted, but the jets players look like assholes for making those comments. it's clear they don't care about winning when they complain about the team making good moves. if the old jets were worth the money that the new jets were getting, there'd be no need to sign the new guys.

i dont understand the problem with what sapp did. its not like he said "i retired because brett did" he knew he was retiring way before all this brett bullshit happened.

i wonder how fast the pats are gonna move in on this.....

PHILADELPHIA -- Two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Takeo Spikes was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, the second high-profile player cut by the Eagles in a week.

he just picked the wrong time to announce it, that's all. he would've gotten more attention if he had done it earlier, or later, when some of the favre hype died down

I saw that and started drooling over the idea of Spikes on the Pats. That guy is fast and vicious. He'd be exactly what the Pats needed. Hopefully Spikes, and Belichick see it that way too. I heard today they were talking to Hank Poteat, who, even though he knows the Patriots schemes, does nothing for me.

I didn't know retiring was a competition to see who could garner more media attention.

takeo spikes is good and he would be a good addition but he is probably looking for a long term deal to finish out his career somewhere and I dont see the pats shelling out the money he'll want for another 30+ year old linebacker who is in the twilight of his career. I'd much rather see them spend that money on younger players to get that defense off the AARP call sheet.

He's signed off and on with the Pats over the past couple seasons to fill in the injury gaps. He usually gets cut for salary cap reasons.

Even though this was posted on ESPN, I read that he was retiring on MSN about 2 months ago.

Now that they signed Lewis and Williams I don't think they'll be going after Poteat anymore.

Anyone else curious why as to why the Pats haven't taken a look at DJ Hackett? His whole last season was messed up with injuries, but the guy has a ton of potential. The couple weeks he did play this past season he put up 100 + yards in multiple games.
