LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT
Mike Portnoy - John Petrucci - Jordan Rudess - Tony Levin
10th ANNIVERSARY REUNION TOUR

In 1998 and 1999, Liquid Tension Experiment released two instrumental albums that set the prog world on fire. The project featured Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy & John Petrucci on drums & guitar (respectively), virtuoso keyboardist Jordan Rudess and bass legend Tony Levin.

After the success of the two albums and the project's undeniable chemistry, Rudess was asked to join Dream Theater full-time and the project was put on the shelf for an indefinite hiatis....
until now!

Back together for a select number of US dates, the quartet is reuniting to revisit the magical music they created 10 years ago and tap back into their chemistry for a whole new musical experiment!

They have different musical goals in mind.

Tickets for this are probably going to be RIDICULOUSly priced.

Yes, they do, but I feel more "emotion" coming from Gordian Knot's music. I was never much of a Dream Theater fan, or even LTE for that matter. I just don't feel any other emotion in their music other than them trying to show off their virtuosities.

I hear where you are coming from, but although john pertrucci is an amazing guitarist and does "shred" from time to time, i think he does a great job of putting alot of emotion into his soloing. With dream theater and liquid tension. The lte first cd has alot of emotion on it actually. Check out the song kindred spirits its number 3 on that disk.

The newer dream theater material is way more metal influenced and its just bad. But thats always how it was with dt the heavier they were the shittier. Ive always been a huge fan of the more melodic stuff they do, they definately can set a mood and know how to create emotion. Ya just have to have an open mind and check out more than a few songs. Almost everything they do is differnt. They have alot to offer

Lol awake is a pretty good album actually. When i first got it i thought it was their worst. But its got some great stuff. Its funny you mention that cd i was just listening to it the other day.

Another great album my opinion is" 6 degrees of inner turbulance". Its a 2 disk cd and includes a great deal of heavy and melodic. If you can get away from the melodic stuff being a big too melodic or cheesy its fucking awsome.

Another great one thats less shreddy more song structure and melodicism is scenes from a memory.

Im definately a huge nerd when it comes to dream theater sorry

Change of Seasons is probably about as emotional as it's gonna get for them. Great band, I'm more of a fan of their earlier material though. COS, Images and Words, and Awake. Six degrees has some interesting moments. Their new album, I agree, is much heavier and I like it. The guitar parts are fuckin killer. Hats off to those guys.

My favorite DT album is I&W. 6DOIT and SFAM are pretty good too. The newest 3 albums don't do much for me. They're trying too hard to be heavier; although Octavarium, isn't that heavy. Just seems like a mid-life crisis on their part.

I went through a huge DT/LTE phase a few years ago. LTE has some awesome stuff. DT has some hits and misses for me, but I'd say Scenes from a Memory is by far their best.
