DVD ripoff (pwned by the motion picture industry)[views:1093][posts:4]_________________________________ [Mar 14,2008 11:28am - xmikex ""] I was at Best Buy yesterday with a $25 gift card that had been burning a hole in my pocket for a while. I found this DVD called "Spirited Killer" which claimed to be Tony Jaa's first film. For those who don't know Tony Jaa is the man. I don't even care much for martial arts films, I just follow Tony Jaa because his movies are always out of control. So I bought it thinking it has to at least be decent. His name is listed in big letters on the front of the package. There's a huge picture of him above the title of the movie. The promotional text on the back cover is almost entirely about how Tony Jaa is the successor of Bruce Lee, etc. And the only photo on the back cover is of Tony Jaa. Great. I just popped this DVD in, flipped through the chapters and Tony Jaa is NOT IN THIS FUCKING MOVIE. This is basically just some awful old cheesy Thai martial arts movie. I looked this up online, and the consensus amongst everyone else who was ripped off by this film is that Jaa is basically little more than an extra in the last 20 minutes of the film. I could not possibly be more pissed about this. I've already written angry e-mails to the distributor, and to Best Buy. If the movie just sucked I'd be fine with having watched a shitty movie. But this is a pretty shameless scam. I mean fucking LOOK AT THIS: [img] And the photo on the back couldn't possibly even be from this film. In fact I'm almost 100% positive it's a promo still from Ong Bak. |
