_______________________________________ [Mar 20,2008 11:38pm - the_reverend ""] I know of one. it is sitting in a shack in the woods of durham, nh with my HD transmitter. HD is actually "the shit" but it's owned and licensed by one company... |
_________________________________________ [Mar 20,2008 11:50pm - brad weymouth ""] do they have commercials? |
_______________________________________ [Mar 20,2008 11:59pm - the_reverend ""] they can... HD is just an extension of the FM band. you hide 96Kbps worth of digital data in a 250Khz range of your frequency. A lot of station will nessle other stations with in their data stream. so, you splice it off and have a AM or 2 stations with in the same bandwidth, but at a lesser data rate. that means that some stations will have their normal signal at HD1 and then something like traffic reports at HD2. |
_______________________________________ [Mar 20,2008 11:59pm - the_reverend ""] the secondary channels are typically commercial free. |

_______________________________________ [Mar 21,2008 12:06am - the_reverend ""] np. I run an HD transmitter so I know a lot about it. you can also do things like send a text stream over your signal too with the songs titles and etc.. |
_________________________________________ [Mar 21,2008 12:11am - brad weymouth ""] so it's pretty much like satellite but it's free, except for the receiver. ... can you use potty mouth on it? |
_______________________________________ [Mar 21,2008 12:13am - the_reverend ""] the rules for HD1 are the same as a normal FM station. the rules for HD2, etc... are still being defined. what I hate about it is that a company named ubiquity owns the technology. |
