Interesting side note... when my brother, and I unwrapped our NES system, and starting playing RBI baseball for the first time ever back in the day, my dad flipped out when my brother put Bob Stanley in to pitch. Bob Stanley was never used on that game again. Fast forward to 2004, and the cry of Sox fans everywhere is "We forgive you Bill" I asked my dad at dinner one night if he forgave Buckner. He said sure. Then I asked him if he finally forgave Bob Stanley. His face tensed up as he shook his head, and just put his head down staring at his plate of meatloaf. My mom asked him who Bob Stanley, and my dad said "Just forget it." |
