Something that IS funny, was a (Danish I think) commercial that had a bunch of Venom fans rocking out, then leaving and coming back to find their friend dancing around in girl clothes. I think T&E is pure genius though and I've been spreading around that show since I first saw it, people love it or hate it, and the ones that hate it in my experience are either not too bright (which they will readily admit) or just undesirable and I wouldn't associate with them anyway. Not a scientific study or anything but I think that's pretty funny. I saw an old episode of Kids in the Hall and realized how much of an influence they must be on T&E. For me the best comedy shows out there are T&E, Venture Bros, Arrested Development...most adultswim stuff just doesn't do it for me anymore. /rant..wow back to work... |

In life we need money to buy food, etc, because we aren't resourceful and don't grow our own. That's just one example of the necessity of money. We were born into this, so we have to work with what we've been given. I believe we just haven't been able to reconcile the above mentioned, and we do need to strike a delicate balance between both, without heavily relying upon wealth and materialism as a means of gratification. |

Most of the humor really has nothing to do with metal at all. You notice how they never talk about metal bands or specifics of technique? And the characters in Dethklok are dumb, of course they are. If they weren't, the show wouldn't be a comedy anymore. The only thing that really separates the characters from the main characters on any other TV show is that negative stereotypes of metal fans are used to create the humor rather than stereotypes of people who are just flat out dumb. So that's how most of the show's fan base ends up being people who know nothing about metal at all or think the epitome of real metal is Job For A Cowboy(doesn't help that the music takes death metal and commercializes it to being pretty much bland nothingness). So my point still stands. The show is funny. The Dethklok tours and albums in real life are nothing but a cash scam and they make me angry. I can understand not liking the humor too, but I think saying it degrades metal as a whole is taking it a bit too far. |
