First one I ever bought was Fantastic Four #326 (back when Ben Grimm wasn't the Thing for five minutes) vs. the Frightful Four(Titania, Wizard, Hydro-Man, and Klaw) and Dragon Man. For recent titles, you cannot go wrong with Dark Horse's Conan series - they're directly from the Robert E. Howard stories, with some new stuff added in between to link them together. AWESOME. |

SRSLY, Uncanny X-Men is the original book - just get the absolute oldest / earliest trade paperback you can find, and go from there. Late 70s to early 80s is my favorite shit, personally. Before there were 10 books to follow and everybody had already died and "got better" twice. |
