I'm going to be buying a truck next week, and I had a question about one I'm looking at. It's a 2005 Chevy Silverado. It's got a V6 engine [trying to stay away from gas guzzlers] and rear wheel drive. My question is this: Should I even bother with the two wheel drive or should I go look for something with all wheel drive? I just don't want to get stuck in any snow during the fucking winter.

2 wheel drive would be fine as long as you drop some weight into the bed in the winter. Use some cinder blocks or sand bags or something to put some weight in the rear end, it'll add traction and you'll be fine as long as you don't drive it like an asshole.

I knew someone with a 2WD pickup. Even with sandbags in the bed of his truck in the winter, it was fucking scary driving around in that thing when it got slippery out I guess. I'd stay away.

Like I said, it also depends how you drive it. Chevy's are decent, but not the best.

Yea, if I had the money I'd get a Toyota Tundra...but alas, I do not. I'll go look for a 4X4.

Probably the best bet if you want the most reliable way. Go for an old toyota pickup, like mid 90's. 4x4 options, and they last forever. Just be careful of rust.
