________________________________________ [Aug 20,2008 9:52pm - DomesticTerror ""] The Walking Dead is amazing. I recently read Okko and loved it. if you haven't read Batman: The Long Halloween, i suggest you check it out. |

_________________________________________ [Aug 20,2008 10:30pm - DomesticTerror ""] don't forget Preacher |
________________________________ [Aug 20,2008 10:47pm - Pires ""] i just purchased arkham asylum. gonna begin that after contagion, though i should read the entire series before moving on. i've heard only great things about watchmen. i remember reading maus in high school, but never read part 2. anyone ever read marvel zombies? i've picked up and thumbed through the walking dead, but am reluctant to throw twenty bucks away at a bad graphic novel. but if you're all suggesting it, i'll have to think twice about it next time i go shopping for books. |
___________________________________________ [Aug 20,2008 11:02pm - DaveFromTheGrave ""] Preacher, one of the best graphic novels ever. You can't go wrong with a comic that includes a comic-ized Bill Hicks performance. |
_____________________________________________ [Aug 20,2008 11:04pm - theaccurseddrummer ""] DC's kinda candy-assed sometimes, but check out Justice and Kingdom Come, they're by Alex Ross, who is the man. Speaking of Ross, check out his Marvel series MARVELS, it's pretty cool as well. |
_________________________________________ [Aug 20,2008 11:13pm - DomesticTerror ""] New England Comics has a sale running throughout august. 20% off of graphic novels. that might help yer wallet a bit. also, since i'm pimping the Walking Dead so much, the trades range from $10-13. and they're written by Robert Kirkman, the same guy that wrote Marvel Zombies. I actually haven't read MZ, but i've heard nothing but good things about it. |

For series, I agree with Watchmen, and definetely Preacher. Sandman is a nice escape, a little more highbrow. |

_____________________________________________ [Aug 21,2008 8:03am - markfuckingrichards ""] Mouse Guard, Path, The Goon, The Maxx, Wanted, Batman: Hush, Secrets, War Drums and all other previously mentioned series, Justice, Kingdom Come, anything Alex Ross does, V for Vendetta, Watchmen, Ojo, Sandman, of course Sin City, The Fountain. I'm sure more will come to me. |

DomesticTerror said: y_ddraig_goch said:and always keeping an eye out for an interesting horror comic or zombie comic read the Walking Dead. every person i've turned on to this comic has become a fanatic. Yar - all my friends in Worcester are obsessed with this. I haven't had a chance to read more than an issue and a half, but it does seem to rule. DaveFromTheGrave said:Preacher, one of the best graphic novels ever. You can't go wrong with a comic that includes a comic-ized Bill Hicks performance. Just got into these recently; the pop culture references are amazing, but it's a solid book besides. Great shit. narkybark said:If you want to see a lot of where a lot of elements for The Dark Knight came from, read The Killing Joke and The Long Halloween. Totally seconded, but you also need The Killing Joke (Alan Moore). That's the other half of the puzzle with The Dark Knight, in my opinion (and it's amazing besides). Grab Batman: Year One (Frank Miller) to get the comics version of Batman Begins, while you're at it. If you're at all into crime books, or if you appreciate Quentin Tarantino's work but would like it minus all the faux-cool posing, you must own all of Stray Bullets. It's completely fucked, and highly awesome. |
_______________________________ [Aug 21,2008 3:04pm - Pires ""] just finished batman contagion. i'll probabaly pick up cataclysm after i read arkham asylum. after cataclysm is no mans land 1-5. these get pricey but man are they worth the read. i read contagion in two days. |
