so my bass player (narkybark) brought this DVD over for us to watch this past weekend. And i gotta say, with the exception of Necrophagist, and Cattle Decapitation i was extremely disappointed. I know that video footage from metal shows is almost never WONDERFUL, but the Necro songs sounded incredible. ABRB was mediocre at best, Ion Dissidence was much more tame than i remember them being live. The faceless's performances were god-awful. It sounded like they were all totally drunk. BTM was even more disappointing, i am used to the mechanics of dysfunction album, where i think he triggers basically his entire drumset, so when he plays live and only his BD is triggered he sounds lame. Cephalic Carnage was ok, a little too noisy, so i couldnt hear exactly what was happening.

Cattle Decapitation- now here's a band that i have seen before, and have heard there records. I didn't really like them before, but on this video they were unreal. They were pretty tight, and a little faster than they were before, but the real difference was the signing. He was fucking great, the high notes he was hitting were ear piercing, fucking brutal. He was nuts, i havent seen someone go that batshit on stage in a while.

DVD overall- decent, i wouldnt buy it, but i would watch it again.

I guess I may as well add more info... I wasn't sure what was on the dvd since the cover has no track listing. Turns out that each band on the tour gets about 2 songs each, except Arsis which isn't included. Decapitated also got shafted by having only one tune on it "poem about an old prison man". Necrophagist got two tunes plus a very long drum solo.

It seemed curious to me that they could've fit a LOT more tunes onto the disc. So it loses points for being so short. The visual production uses an MTV quick-cut style, which I cannot stand, since I like to watch players play for more than 2 seconds at a time. There are moments where they'll focus on someone but a lot of times they don't.

For the audio, it varies. Some bands sound decent, others not so much. The nice part is that it was not retouched- you're pretty much hearing the live recording. This is very obvious in the first Faceless song "ghost of a stranger"- I actually really like the band but they BUTCHER this tune, I'm amazed they let it go onto the dvd. Their other song "An autopsy" is better.

The best sounding on the dvd is Necrophagist. Every instrument is clear, and they play on the money. Much more bass then you can hear on their CD's, too.

SO yeah, it's an ok disc, would've been nice if they actually filled it with more tunes.
