______________________________________ [Sep 16,2008 10:09pm - AUTOPSY_666 ""] I remember the day I bought the cassette at Island Records in 1986 and skateboarded home to Goat Island (how Metal is that?!) and cranked it since no one else was home. I kept playing it over and over thinking "holy fuck" until someone came home. Kinda like the first time I heard "None So Vile" - blown away, instant classic! |
_______________________________________ [Sep 17,2008 11:15am - ThirdKnuckle ""] There's a 33 1/2 book about Master Of Reality too; it's GREAT |
________________________________________ [Sep 17,2008 11:20am - thuringwethil ""] yeah I leafed through that at the store, was tempting the thing I dislike about that series is sometimes the author will write more about themselves than the album. I mean, you have to express how deeply the music affects you, that should be a given. But I picked up the one on PJ Harvey's "Rid of Me," and it was just a bunch of short stories corresponding with each track on the album. I didn't think that was too cool. |
______________________________________ [Sep 17,2008 4:01pm - ThirdKnuckle ""] Then you won't like the 'Master of Reality' bk it's a fictional account of a kid in a state hospital writing in his journal about how much that record means to him... left-field, yes, but it was great |
________________________________ [Sep 17,2008 4:04pm - xmikex ""] It sounded really cool until I read this: From Tori Amos to Pantera's Phil Anselmo, dozens of fans and artists discuss the record's ongoing impact and Slayer's status in the small fraternity of rock's greatest groups. |

I think Tori is the coolest ever, and Anselmo is the gayest ever. That's what one calls a paradox. |
