The computer I bought/put together last year would crap out at 1 1/2hr mark or whenever I taxed the CPU hard. I finally got around to removing all the excess hardware and it's running awesome. I even burn the CPU in ubuntu with semper pi and it ran all night. but now I have a pile of crap that I'm not going to put back in. |

You have to carefully pick components to integrate, inspect every part carefully, and make sure you don't create static problems. My record has been much different -- I've blown up some shit, and fried some other shit with long-term problems, but in general, the machines I make are faster and more stable than the Dells I've had. Of course, I am *** really fucking anal *** when it comes to tech, and unlike many programmers and sysadmins, I don't dislike hardware. If you ever come to Houston, let's go part shopping. We'll make you a mega-computing-macropenis. |
