King Crimson moved retrograde to the tendency to dumb down the medium into image and trivial yet novel variations on accepted form, and with Red the band reached a climax, fusing simplicity with a need for subliminal elegance and a finding a transcendental recognition of the relative balance between structure and content, fulfilling the prophetic words of Ornette Coleman: "The pattern for a tune, for instance, will be forgotten and the tune itself will be the pattern."

Love this album.
Still not my favorite by them though; nothing beats ITCOTCK.

The bass sound on this record is one I've tried to emulate for years; perfect

The drumming on this is exceptional. I love his use of paradiddles/paradiddlediddles/doubleparradiddles between the china and the snare. Great stuff. The last tune starless is sad as holy hell. All great songs though.

I thoroughly enjoy this album probably one of my favorites, I'm a huge Crimson fan!!! I love the single notes Fripp plays during the verses on "one more red nightmare" so tasteful and minimal yet they have such a huge impact. I love his guitar tone on the record too.
