..was out sick from work last wed-fri, and came in this morning to find out that our digital department has expanded (largely in part to my high digital sales) and therefor has taken over my office, which was coincidentally right next to theirs. So i am back to cubical land. DAMNIT. I was really liking the whole "window onto tremont st" thing. Now my view is two grey cube walls.. lame... and to make it even worse, now everyone can see my puter, so i can't look at half the pics posted on here anymore.. booooo!

just so you know, we took the digits of pi, out to 110 digits that is, and bracketed them off in groups. We did this with it's own digits. ie:
first number is three, so we bracket 3 numbers, then 1, then 4, etc...
(3.14)(1)(5926)
and so on for about 110 digits. we did it until we got to 3min and 14seconds. haha. In the mixing process i think i extra second got added, and it pissed us off, but we rolled with it. We used the bracketed numbers to write with, using them as groupings, beats per measure, fret number, or whatever. We were pretty free with how we used them, we just made sure we used strictly the numbers is PI for the whole thing. And yes, even the mambo, samba, and brazilian cascara parts.
Narky-you shut your friekin mouth, you didn't want me to keep the wood blocks, otherwise i would've kept em... well maybe not, but i definately miss them.

well, i won't get in trouble for looking at non-pc stuff. I work in a testosterone driven alpha-male office. (i am in sales ion downtown boston in government center...aka duchebag central) but even some of my tough-guy co-workers don't wanna see she-male/bestiality porn. Although most of my office watched 2girls 1cup together.

i was unaware of it, but it does seem like he did something of the sort. I am fairly certain it's VERY different than ours. We didn't think that we were the first, actually we talked about the fact that we almost definitely weren't. It wasn't any sort of ripping off though, and we seriously had never heard of this glass fellows composition with it, so we weren't ripping him off. Now i really wanna hear it, but i can only find little writtings here and there on him on line. Do you know more about the piece? Like which release you can get it on, and what it is titled? Everything i have found (in the last 5min) has been somewhat esoteric.

I am not 100% positive that Glass did something like that. I bet you what you did was indeed original; however, I think I remember hearing a song Glass did that was based of of Pi. I could be wrong. If it's not, it's very number orientated. I BELIEVE it is from the movie Powaqqatsi's soundtrack, but I could be wrong.

tool did lateralus's beginning with the fibonnaci sequence by accident. They were gonna name the song by those numbers but thought again about it because the whole song isn't based off of them. I thought i told you about pi, you musta been high. haha. We drank a LOT of everclear in the month or so it took me and eric to write that.
