How many inputs do you need? The various Mbox's are fine if you only need a couple inputs. The Mbox 2 pro is pretty cool, because it has the 2 built in preamps, plus two additional line inputs for adding more channels of better preamps. The internal ones aren't great, but useable. If you want more options, I would get a different software platform. |

I use a DIGI 002 rack at my home setup. It gets the job done. First thing I did was put money into better preamps though. The 002 has 4 line inputs, plus ADAT lite-pipe that allows for 8-channel expansion (via an additional AD converter), plus 2-channel SPDIF inputs for up to 18 inputs. If you want more options, I would get a different software platform. |
