If they really cared about sea life and mankind's relation to it they'd be more concerned about what we put into the ocean versus what we take out. Overfishing is a serious problem, but through regulation animal populations recover. You can regulate and punish businesses for dumping into seas, lakes and rivers after the fact but no cash settlement is going to cure Minamata Disease.
