You tend to know about stuff, and I have been curious about this for a while: I have an electric pencil sharpener right next to the moniter of my computer. Whenever I use it, the screen kind of warps and discolors slightly. Oh, and, the sharpener is plugged directly into a wall outlet, and the computer is plugged into a 7-outlet surge protecter, which is plugged into a different wall outlet than the sharpener. So, why does it do this? Is it just because of the blade spinning in the sharpener? |

(top left) so when you turn on your sharpener, you kick of a big enough EM field to cause an effect on your monitor. why is the monitor effected by magnets? well, that's simple.. sort of.. in side a monitor is a cathode ray tube. this basically fields electrons in a gun, [img] and bends then with guess what? magnets! and ther you go [img] I'm glad all that physics is good for something. but wait.. what the fuck are you doing with a pencil sharpener? I haven't touched a pencil since the 70's. |
