Rich Horror and I took a trip down memory lane. I miss playing out with bands and everything that goes with it.

I hate working full time and going to school full time. I have one day off from work a week, I gotta get something going somehow...

What sucks is finally having free time but being too lazy and dejected by past failed attempts to start one.

Yeah that's another thing even if I did have the time I'd probably thing "What's the point" I've been in plenty of bands, two of which did pretty well but not worth busting your ass for. And being in a band really is busting your ass.

Oh, I think it's totally worth it when it works and you actually get to the point of playing shows and stuff. Problem is I've only done that with one.

Its great at the beginning when you play shows. But when you've been a band for x amount of years and only left Boston a handfull of times and you see all these new bands that just formed touring and shit it kinda gets to you. I'm bitter I guess.

Me too. Also it sucks for bands doing what Mike would want to do. See my band for an example.

Yeah, I never got to THAT point.

My band Dissector was kinda too crusty for the metal heads and too metal for the punks and never got a strong foothold in either.

All my other bands just never had the motivation I guess. That and I have no idea how to get myself "out there" being anti-social and very shy.

sometimes i miss being in bands, sometimes i dont. work and school full time are def tough...but not as tough as working crummy jobs and being a DM bum.

Being in bands is half the reason i play. Be properly motivated and love/know your craft, i see too many people whine and not actually doing much about it.

Things I miss:
-Playing/practicing regularly (made me a better guitar player)
-Always writing new material
-Pulling off a new song that the band thought would be impossible to ever play
-Playing a good show well.

Things I DON'T miss:
-Breaking your ass to get all your equipment to a shitty show, stand around for 3 hours listening to bands that you mostly hate to play for 30 minutes (to the few people who didn't leave after their buddy's gay band played) and pack up and go home
-Band members missing practice all the time
-Attempting to juggle full-time job (I can get work-related calls at any time, so actually more than full-time), being in band, being a home-owner (and all the chores that go with it), being (and staying) married and my other interests
-Trying to work around the fact that I'm a shitty guitar player in a relatively technical band.
-All the added driving (I already drive a shitload for work)

I'm sure I will embark on another project soon, but it will be a much less time-consuming venture.

I definitely here you there. I've done that one for a few years and have kept up pretty much the same schedule since.
