There was like 2 people in the audience that knew even the chorus. Sub-par. 1:00-1:20 when the dead blot breaks: (thirdstage) stoner rock. Didn't sound too bad for the second I was in there. I also realized that the bar is a mirror image of it's self and the other side isn't mirrors. Someone out of the corners of my eyes walked out of what I thought was a mirror and walked behind me. Good for me cause I got to see more of the trap them set. The singer does the suicide silence vultures... I don't remember him doing that before. 3:00-3:20 WE WERE GENTLEMEN: (thirdstage) deathcore mixed with BYD. They all had black sleeeveless shirts too. Wonder if the tshirts they were selling were just black sleeveless shirts. 3:10-3:30 decrepit birth: (secondstage) brutal trigger coming up the stairs. The singer dances like a hippie, but went into the pit. 3:30-3:50 toxic holocaust: (mainstage) iok, war is hell sounds just like some other song that I can't think of... It's either exodus or vio-lence. This is going to bug me. Most of the crowd didn't seem to care that they were on. This band needs to headline the second stage next year. 3:40-4:00 miles between, the: (secondstage) my first time seeing them since they were signed. Good times. I'm still running around so I can't say much more about their set than james in the house. |

The crowd went semi-crazy for them. 4:30-4:50 destro, the: (thirdstage) forgot what they looked like. It's been a looong time. Sounded good too. Why were there so many girls cheering for them? 4:40-5:00 coliseum: (secondstage) being behind undoubtedly the best drummer in the house was awesome. I tried to get back up to them, but it didn't work. Ran out of time. 5:10-5:30 psyopus: (secondstage) the room was packed. new singer? I watched and shot them for a couple songs. Craziness. If you know the music arpman plays more thatn the actual music on the CD. 5:25-5:55 haunted, the: (mainstage) much better than I thought they would be. The songs they came out with were much stronger songs. Also the lights were excellent too. 5:00 5:30 within the ruins: (thirdstage) a lot of kids were there for them playing air guitar abd tiny moshing. There isn't too much room in this place, but it worked out. 5:40-6:00 veil of maya: (secondstage) the room was packed. They had a lot of people singing along with them. 6:10-6:40 august burns red: (mainstage) their live set I much better than their CD. Lots of energy and the singer hopped into the crowd. Speaking of crowd... It's starting to get crowded up here. 6:10-6:40 cattle decapitation: (secondstage) the room was packed. I walked out to shoot ABR, came back and the rooms was so humid that I couldn't breath. Travis is a fountain of bubbling water and spit. The people in the front row lowed it. They had that "please sir can I have more" look on their faces. Very interesting. |

The bands that I expected to kill did so (though I wish Psycroptic had a later set), of course one goes to these things with an open mind hoping for something unexpected to happen and for me that was WITHERED on the second stage with a massive and epic doomy groove (maybe even a little bleak and grim), probably the highlight of my fest insofar as it was totally unexpected. All night, I got to watch people my parents age doing baloons of nitrous and stumbling around the parking lot. Walking through the crowd I was offered: Mushrooms, Ice cold beers for $1, "Kind bud", and a real sketch with sunglasses even said DMT. It was an amazing experience. Also, food was so much better than the carts in front. Chicken burritos and all sorts of foods. true story |
