However, it suggests that the American conservatives are off-base and trying to be liberal, and that's why they always run into logical paradoxes while demanding individual freedom yet higher defense spending, greater infrastructure, supply-side economics, etc. |

The left offers "freedom" (if you don't define your terms, you win) plus a welfare state. They also haven't convinced any of the more traditional conservatives, so they're stuck with pentacostals and apocalyptics. |
