I always felt bad about people who come in to boston via the pike. I don't know why they chose to put tolls there and nowhere else.

hell, it's worse crossing the Tobin though. That way costs BIG.

did this have to do with them paying for the big dig meatheads buying hookers?

i can understand the need for a toll road, but the Pike is ridiculous. they make so much money off of that road every day.

The Mass Pike is nothing compared to the obscenely painful wallet rape that states like NY, NJ, MD and DE charge at their tolls.

Well not having that many toll workers actually saves them money. Do you know how much that people make for doing absolutely nothing? Gotta love the unions for state jobs.

toll workers make a ridiculous amount of money for barely doing any work. same with detail cops. a cops on detail get paid for a predetermined amount of hours even if they don't work all those hours. half of them fall asleep or goof around on their laptops the whole time.

I really do hate state unions. I can see a need for unions for trade jobs but its ridiculous to have unions for T and Toll workers. The person on the microphone who announces the stops makes $24 an hour @_@

one time i drove to Absecon NJ and decided to avoid the highway so i took a smaller "Rt. 20" sort of road, it felt like there was a 35 cent toll every mile. it was insane.

Yeah they milk everyone for every cent they can. It cost about $27 in tolls to get to or from DE when I was doing my training course. Fucking disgusting. Sometimes I'd set my GPS to avoid tolls...resulting in about 2.5 hours extra travel. Ugh.

Yeah...my steering wheel doesn't look the same after how many times I had to beat it like a red headed step child going through each toll. I flipped on one of the toll workers and they gave me a free ride since my AmTrak ID was showing. Sadly that didn't work everywhere.

This would be awesome, but I'm predicting that this lawsuit crashes and burns and the Turnpike authority reclaims their legal expenses by whining to the state for more money.

Deval "Captain Caveman" Patrick has a pretty sweet track record as far as caving to money squandering transportation agencies.

thats awesome but it probably won't work...
and yea, NJ is worse...luckily i know my general way through the local cities to avoid having to pay tolls but sometimes its unavoidable. Plus, they just bumped the tolls up so now its a $1.00 at the main toll stops and 50 cents at the smaller toll booths that are off of exits, but even some of those are $1

pretty soon you'll have to pay a toll before you can get into your car...unless you already count insurance as a giant invisible toll booth.

i thought thats what insurance was as well until I got hit...then it all made sense because If I didnt have it i would have had to pull $7k out of my ass somehow

i went to staten island a few years back with one of my ex-psychotic cunts. to get over the whitestone bridge it cost 5 dollars each way, and another 9 dollars to get into staten island, after being across the bridge already.

Confederation Bridge to PEI. Now keep in mind this is a 7 mile long bridge. Going to PEI = free. Leaving PEI, towing a utility trailer, I believe was about $47 Canuck.

my parents have a book about the confederation bridge. that they got while visiting my dad's family up there. i want to go there sometime.

PEI is beautiful, but very, very far. I went there goose hunting (it's known for that) last fall. From NH, it was a solid 12 hour ride -- travelling with 3 hunting dogs and towing a trailer. I drove straight both ways. I think you can take a ferry frm Maine during summer/tourist months which would ease the pain of the drive.
