You can make deals with the military ya know. I'm only saying this because if you want in, but DON'T want to see combat, you need to get that in writing. I'm just assuming you don't want combat because you have a child, but i could be wrong. I know someone who agreed to serve for 4years in THIS country being a cryptic-translingualist. Basically they(navy) agreed (in a contract) that they would pay for his entire schooling before he goes in (for the job) then serve the 4years, then get out with placement in a job on a military base of his choice with very high salary/benefits/pension. He did extremely well on his ASVABs, but i took them too and thought they were a breeze. So as long as you scored high enough on them, and your REALLY set on going in, you should try negotiating to make it really worth that much of your/your child's life.
Pretty much fact. Keith Mutiny signed for delayed enlistment to become a special forces medic after he finishes paramedic training and plans to follow up after he gets out, with medical school paid by the goverment to be a neurosurgeon. Sounds like a plan to me from a person I'd consider to be one of the most intelligent people I know.
