the 70s punk movement transposed to the 90s...
a little different fashion.. some worse ideas...
and a bit of Kerosene.

interesting book.

It would be great if they didn't practically dedicate the last half of the book to Varg's ramblings and personal history. The actual Lords of Chaos didn't even have anything to do with black metal by any stretch of imagination. I think that they had a little trouble staying focused.

Decent read. Mike Moynihan (check out his project Blood Axis) did a pretty good job. It mostly deals with Norway, and politics the author agrees with. It could have brought up bands from the US, Finland, Sweden, Canada, Italy, Brazil, Greece, Australia, etc that have just as much history/importance as Norway. Too much focus on the sensationalism, but I guess that was the idea.

I liked this book. I'd like to check out the 2nd edition I guess there's about 50 extra pages and more interviews with Varg. I hated the chapter on the florida kids. American Hardcore is a good read as well, published by Feral House.

it was one of the best books about black metal i've read. infact it made me want to write the definitive book on the history of metal,, i haven't done that yet but someday i will. that book is actually what got me interested in BM

i liked American Psycho too. It was better than the
movie. I loved the writing style. It's hard for some
people to get into, but once you start getting into the
style it's written in, it makes a good read.
