Horizons for Homeless Children: Based all across Mass, they build playrooms/playgrounds for homeless kids, and train volunteers to play with the kids 2-3 times a week.
I worked for them when I was in the Americorps before college, FANTASTIC cause to support, and I still volunteer in worcester on tuesdays.

Maybe they do that so people don't sneak in the "buy me a plasma TV.org" charities?
