I keep burning out the initial preamp tube in my 5150 II. Anyone have any idea what the fuck is going on? It get's great tone, but the fucking preamp tube at the input stage lasts about 2 months max. I play an ESP EC1000 with EMGs and run it through a Marshall 1960a 4x12. Anyone ever hear of this kind of consistent problem?

If its your V1 tube socket maybe get a phase inverter instead of just any 12AX7? Not totally sure what's up though.

I'll look into it. If it didn't sound great, I'd just trade it in for something else. Probably will anyway, I can't deal with this happening all the time.

on a 5150, the phase inverter is the preamp tube closest to the power tubes. Peavey calls it the V4. I really don't know why the named it out of order.

The 5150II is the second diagram on this page

Good luck, man. When all else fails, get it looked at by someone who really knows their business. My Bad Cat was blowing through power tubes like crazy. Turns out it was running obscenely hot because of a leaky capacitor...I never would have thought to look there.

thanks, but id kinda rather stick with local. stuff that gets mailed to me just sits on my porch in plain site of people walking by. Even I'd steal my own stuff if i was walking by.

Then any music store would have generic 12AX7 tubes. Just call ahead to save on gas.

Anybody can run the Kessel run in 12 parsecs when a parsec is a measure of distance equal to around 3.2 light years, used as a reference point to find a parallax angle of a star to measure it's distance from Earth.

Translation - a parsec isn't a measure of time and real nerds watch Star Trek

HAHA, WRONG-O!

The Kessel Run is a spice smuggling run that threads through a hazardous region of black holes. Solo made the run in a record distance by skirting through the gravitational field of a black hole (thus eluding Imperial pursuit).

SUCK IT, TREBEK
