New England Hardcore & Metal Fest 2003 DVD[views:4795][posts:22]__________________________________ [Apr 3,2004 6:37pm - slophole ""] Bad News: For everyone anticipating the release of the New England Hardcore & Metal Fest 2003 DVD, you will have to wait another month or so. Due to licensing issues surrounding Converge and their label, the performance of "Concubine" and "Fault and the Fracture" has to be removed. Good News: Since the DVD was originally scheduled for release on Tuesday, 3/23/04 and problems arose at the last minute, a few copies have popped up in stores and can be purchased complete with the Converge performance and original artwork. |

_________________________________________ [Apr 3,2004 7:00pm - TheGreatSpaldino ""] who cares? Converge isnt that amazing |
_______________________________ [Apr 3,2004 7:20pm - assuck ""] the fuckin dvd is almost all shitty, gay bands, the majority of which are on Trustkill. Lamb of God and Meshuggah are the only good things on there from what i can remember offhand. SUFFOCATION isnt even on the fuckin thing, nor is Pig Destroyer, whose set included the first ever live Agoraphobic Nosebleed set. Fuck Trustkill and the fag who owns it. And fuck this year's metal fest right along with him. |
___________________________________ [Apr 3,2004 7:24pm - soilworker ""] it is fuckin gay i got a copy of it and i was expecting more bands the picked all the gay ones to put on it. the red chord or SYL isnt on it either |
_______________________________ [Apr 3,2004 8:05pm - dan p ""] i have a copy with converge in it, and their two songs sound like crap...and i like converge. it needs to be more comprehensive, and like full sets, i dotn care if it takes like 3 dvds...it would be way cooler |
________________________________ [Apr 3,2004 8:24pm - Terence ""] garbage. |
___________________________________ [Apr 3,2004 9:54pm - BornSoVile ""] I thought Converge was wicked underground or something... |
________________________________ [Apr 3,2004 11:54pm - Abbath ""] do they have the nevermore and opeth parts!? |
_______________________________________ [Apr 4,2004 3:00am - insipidzombie ""] yea the dvd is pretty lame. i dont like suffocation or superjoint ritual, but you'd think they'd be on the dvd... right? and no Mastodon, Cephalic Carnage, Pig Destroyer? was there a issue with Relapse Records? and no Kataklysm or SYL? huh? too many fuckin Trustkill bands and other like-minded bands. some poor sound too. i remember hearing the Nevermore and Lacuna Coil vocals perfectly at the festival, but you cant hear shit on the dvd. kinda ironic since Lacuna Coil is centered around those female vocals... |

_______________________________ [Apr 4,2004 1:13pm - assuck ""] i took one look at the back and knew it was shite. SHITE! |
__________________________________ [Apr 4,2004 1:30pm - JellyFish ""] No Suffocation? No SYL? There better be Opeth and Goatwhore. |
___________________________________ [Apr 4,2004 4:15pm - BornSoVile ""] trustkill owns metalfest, good luck on seeing Metal. |
_______________________________ [Apr 4,2004 4:59pm - assuck ""] nope. no goatwhore. there might be opeth, but i doubt it |
________________________________________ [Apr 4,2004 5:11pm - attendmyrequiem ""] i bought it purely for the meshuggah performance. i wish they had picked better songs |
________________________________ [Apr 4,2004 9:05pm - LostBoy ""] yea Opeth's "Drapery Falls" is on it. some of the clean vocals are poorly recorded in the mix. they did that with like every clean vocalist (lacuna coil and nevermore as well). i basically got the dvd for the few good bands as well as the several shots of me during Darkest Hour and Caliban. as so much better as it could have been, i think it's still worth like the $12 for what you do get. |
_________________________________________ [Apr 4,2004 9:50pm - intricateprocess ""] they just overlook way to many bands. they really need at least like a 3 disc dvd, with almost (if not every)band. |
_____________________________________ [Apr 9,2004 9:30pm - the_reverend ""] I just got my copy of it... |
______________________________________ [Apr 9,2004 10:35pm - the_reverend ""] I'm awe-struck by just how good the quality of the colored video is. it makes the palladium look all professional... the black and white videos are a little hash. Also, with all the tracks I've heard so far, the vocals are perfect, but the guitar/drums/bass need to be turned up. it seems to just be a main stage, last song from a band thing. it's odd to look at the kids in the photopit with disposible cameras. I see a lot of familar faces in the audience too. this is definitly a collectors item. like the "year book' of metalfest. |
______________________________________ [Apr 9,2004 10:36pm - the_reverend ""] I see what you mean about the clean vocals being quiet. |
____________________________________ [Apr 9,2004 10:41pm - BornSoVile ""] huh |
_____________________________________________ [Apr 10,2004 7:44am - theundergroundscene ""] Yeah I loved my DVD. At the end of day 1 part of it, there is some kid freaking out and you can see my big head in the background (pre-beard) hahaha. It's only 12 bucks and it's a solid DVD. I really liked the idea of making it a three DVD set or something and including all the bands, but I am thinking maybe labels wouldn't liscense the other bands like the Converge situation? Or maybe the quality of the recording for the other bands wasn't as good? Who knows, but I do agree and understand that there could have been more "metal" on it, but I am satisfied with what I have... |
