the only thing that sucks is that it is 32-bit so i will still only see 3.2GB of my 4GB of RAM.

Would be pretty funny if a top security firm didn't use windows. Actually, they wouldn't be a top security firm then, I guess.

if they would embed GNU tools in windows or add it in as a power toy, I would basically never need linux again.
Linux commands that windows fails me on almost daily:
wc
ps
grep
ll/la/ls

I got grep and diff working in windows with Gnuwin32.

ok, it's going pretty good thus far. the things that I haven't got working yet are
JBuilder2005 (which I need for my work... this is a pain)
USB2VGA2 isn't letting me move the display.

Is Windows 7 any smaller than Vista? I want to get it to dual boot on my lappy but I don't have much space left on that partition that currently has Vista on it.

7 is about the same size-wise as XP. Much improved.

why the hell would they install the 32-bit version? and why the hell is a 32-bit version even necessary anymore?

I love Win7 so far, 24 days uptime now.

I seriously didn't think there would be a 32-bit version. I actually just assumed this and told my boss that there definitely wouldn't be one without looking it up. Looks like I'll be fired.

@porphyria: corporate image. I asked when they would make a 64-bit image and they don't know.

Speaking of task manager.... I'd just like to say that I love remoting into servers at work and seeing 16 virtual CPU's. awesome.

copying 404GB between 2 USB drives = 2-3MB/s = over a day to copy? wtf!

It's 2xQuad. But each core is hyperthreaded so each CPU is 8 logical CPUs.

They're Xeon X5550's.
