My Gateway laptop shuts down randomly. Any help?[views:2620][posts:28]__________________________________ [Dec 22,2009 10:47am - reimroc ""] It ONLY happens when I'm watching videos on the interwebs(weird i know). If I'm just browsing the internet or doing anything else it doesn't shut down. Anyone have any ideas why it likes to do this? |

Uncheck automatically restart on system failure so you can see if there's a bluescreen message. Then you'll know if it's hardware or software causing the issue. |

Then you'll know if it's hardware or software causing the issue. not not bluescreening and it doesn't reboot it shuts down. i just tried changing my power plan from balanced to high performance and it didn't shut down although it has in the past while watching videos on high performance. |

Maybe there's some dust in the HSF. Next step would be opening it up and doing the same if possible. Maybe the heatsink is coming loose too, or needs some new thermal paste. Gateway's are pieces of shit and their company is a joke. |

Plus you can huff that shit and get a killer buzz. [img] Also try spraying some WD40 in your RAM slots - it lubricates the data so it gets to your processor faster. (Assuming you've already done the system32 thing, of course.) |
